Nabari no Ou 4; You are lovely, Yoite

When he was introduced at Fuuma´s village, killing people with just lifting a finger, my first thought was that he´s one of those tough guys who tend to annoy me. Those who are emotionless because their skills are so incredible, which makes them cool and whose only desire is to complete a mission. But this first impression was crushed at episode 4.

It was crushed at the moment when Yoite tried to kill the courier whose job was to finish their mission, just because he said something thoughtless of Yoite´s appearance. When doing this, he revealed that completing a mission isn´t so important to him. He gets irritated over pointless thing which causes him to waste a part of his life force. He´s actually very childish and moody. Maybe he´s careless with his power because he still doesn´t know it´s limits? From the conversations between characters, I´ve understood that Yoite got Kira just recently. He´s newbie with it or then he´s had it for a long time and is now suicidal because he´s had enough of it.

Either the way, I´m already in love with him. He´s the reason why I´m on the side of Kairoushuu rather than Miharu´s. Once again, the reason for my liking is character´s psychoness. Though Miharu´s personality changes from sweet to cruel are nice, they´re not as great as Yoite´s whole character. From looks to apathy and moodyness, he´s lovely. Besides, hi-tech ninja clan beats up old school ninjas any day.

He seems to have a special bond with Miharu, both of them have forbidden technique inside them. And thanks to this and the OP/ED, I now ship Miharu and Yoite… Oh great… -_-;;

It is sad that his is wasting his ki :( He is so easily irritable… I think he needs a hug…

Ahh..yoite…my second favorite chara in Nabari. i know, i’m being shallow, but i like him ultimately because of his appearance. He’s probably one of the most gorgeous anime characters i’ve seen and it’s indeed a plus that he has a good fashion sense ^^

Approximately 100% agreed (including the bit about shipping ^^). Yoite has really succeeded in intriguing me so far, even though at first he seemed like one big walking cliché.

I guess that’s the biggest strength of Nabari no Ou: on the surface, it’s just a by-the-book generic shounen anime with ninjas who fight against ninjas, but there are all these little things that elevate it above the gray swamp of mediocrity, even if only a little. Many of Miharu’s lines in episode 5, for example, would’ve been one big honking cliché in the mouth of any other animu protagonist, said only because that’s the kind of thing animu protagonists always say, the kind of thing they’re supposed to say - but since it was Miharu saying it, it was as if he really meant what he was saying. Does that make any sense?

Oh, and one more thing: Yoite’s hat. Why is it so awesome?

krypfto: Yes, it makes sense. Miharu´s actually very considerate, but since he doesn´t usually show it, his words have more meaning in them when he suddenly says them.

And Yoite´s hat=WIN

[...] was right at the last time, when I thought that he might be suicidal. This episode confirmed that he is in his own way, Yoite [...]
