Jose before and after. My soul cries.
I´m so shocked about the rape of Gunslinger Girl, I´m just going to list plus and minus sides.
+ sides:
- Good OP. I like the song and photo-like background pictures.
- Rico´s cute
- sides:
- Anime original first episode. Because the first season made it own ending apart from the manga, the second season couldn´t continue where the first ended. If it did it, plot must be rewritten by animation studio. That´s too much work, so they would just continue the anime version from 3rd album. But there´s a problem now. Kaleidoscope chapters were only thing that was left from manga version. Everything else is anime original. I understand the studio had to make first episode that introduces the world of the series, but they could at least made it a good episode. Now it was just some random chase, some minor criminals and kaleidoscope scandal. Though I´m sure those punks who died are linked to the bad guys of Gunslinger Girl. They might be a small hope to how this disaster will be saved, but at this moment, I have no hope.
- Lost the slice-of-life feel. Sure the kaleidoscope scenes where there, but pacing was bad. I didn´t get the nice and warm feeling what I got when I read the same from manga.
- Horrible, so hideous, character designs. Everyone have freaky looking eyes and Jose´s turned to bishie.
- Cheap looking animation.
- Tasteless scooter chase.
My bad feeling about a new animation studio and character designs were right. Gorgeous look of first season is stripped and placed with this crap. My only hope now is that second episode´s plot will save this sinking ship, animation is long gone. I will now find some dark corner and cry there. Thank you Artland for ruining the sequel of one of my favourite series.

*sigh*
Goddammit Artland…wtf did you let all your good animators go to the Eva project. Don’t waste them on that crap, guys. GSG is way more important.
Agghhh, it’s so frustrating. I was really looking forward to this going into the season. Of course, episode 2 wasn’t too bad, now that they’ve started in on the Pinocchio arc, but the art quality is just nowhere near Madhouse’s animation chops. You’d think a popular show like this would’ve gotten a better budget.
*sigh*
